Travel to France and connection in another country
I am a UK national currently living in Australia and would like to travel directly to France. My flight has a connecting flight in Abu Dhabi. Will I be able to enter the country? And do I have to go into voluntary quarantine?
France is set to open its borders from tomorrow (July 1) with several countries and this includes Australia, New Zealand, others include Canada and China.
However Saudi Arabia is not on the list of countries allowed, nor is Turkey or Russia.
Despite your connection in Abu Dhabi, you will still be able to enter the country, the French government helpline has told us.
There is no special indication for people who have a connecting flight however you should have a PCR nasal test for Covid-19 before flying and show it to the authorities in Saudi Arabia and on arrival in France, said the worker for the Covid-19 government helpline.
Once in France, the quarantine is recommended but remains voluntary. This means you will be allowed to go out if you want to. There will be no checks but you should continue to respect the barrier gestures such as keeping a one metre distance between you and others, coughing or sneezing in your elbow, washing your hands regularly, etc.
