My PEP did not benefit from 65% reduction You replied to a query (Connexion, July) on the tax payable in France from a capital gain on a share sale, saying that as the shares had been held for more than eight years a reduction of 65% would apply to the gain. In 2016 we cashed in a PEP held since 1996, giving rise to a sizeable capital gain. Hoping for a similar reduction, we spoke to our tax office but were told it did not apply. Mix-up at the tax office Our tax office keeps mixing us up with an expat who has a similar name and date of birth to my husband. We are concerned, especially if our details are being sent to the other person. Can you advise? A.S.
Did I make the tax deadline? I took my tax declaration to my tax office on the deadline day hoping for advice before submitting it. I found the office was closed all day but a sign said to put papers in the letter box. I went back later in the day having completed my form myself and posted it but I noticed that the box was full, with a few hours to go before the deadline. Is this normal on declaration day? Can I assume my form will have been deemed to have been filed on time? V.K.
