People across social media have been sharing beautiful images as a blanket of snow covered several French regions at the weekend (February 8-9).

The cold snap spread over most of France at the start of the school holidays (zone B), as chilly air blew in from Germany.

Up to one metre of snow was recorded on mountains in the north-east of the country. Flakes also fell in the Hauts-de-France, passing over the Massif Central and all the way to Occitanie.
